Thoughts from my keyboard - post-USC game edition (11/18/24)
Trying my best to put this past week’s Husker football loss to USC (that's the University of Southern Calif ornia, not an SEC team from South Cack-a-lacky) well behind me. To clear the decks, here are my thoughts and questions: With two weeks to install any changes new OC Holgoresen might want to make, why, oh why, were neither the scheme, nor the play-calling, nor the blocking assignment s - all of which were under fire before Satterfield was demoted - seemingly not changed significantly? Where is Fidone? For that matter, what happened to this vaunted tight end room? Why no “tush-push” on short-yardage plays? This is not just a question for NU, but for any team - at any level - not known as the Philadelphia Eagles. Is the problem with Nebraska’s offense simply its inability to block? Whether it’s the line on running plays or receivers on ANY play, there just seem to be fewer open spaces for potential playmakers to make plays. A hill I will die on is that running plays out of...
